Car dies after heating up 700 1987

1987 740GLE. After my car heats up it dies and won't start. Have replaced fuel pump relay, an fuel injector relay (not correct name) it hangs on the coolant expansion tank. Also have replaced fuel pump pressure regulator on top front of engine. After car cools down it starts immediately. Runs from any where fron 10 to 30 miles than dies again. What is my problem. Some one told me to check the power stage, don't know what his is? any other suggestions? the wiring harness is showing wear. IF I NEED A NEW WIRING HARNESS i HEARD THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES DEPENDING ON THE FUEL SYSTEM/ Could some one tell me how I determine what type of harness I need. Stranded in U.S.
