Your brake booster should have a one way check valve that can be detached and tested. I replaced mine together with the brake booster about a month ago. It started by emitting hissing noise and increasing pedal effort. In about 2 weeks, I lost all the assisted power. Replacing the booster takes some patience but is a "nuts & bolts" job. You'll find a good price at Autohausaz in AZ.
