Flat hood comaptability

Hey now!
I was just wondering if anyone know whether or not if ANY year flat hood will fit my 82 244. My mechanic has probably a hundred Volvos in his boneyard and many of them are the old flat hooded type (70's?) with the round lights. Am I limited to certain year models? Any help or musings would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
