dash lights are out WIRING PROBLEM??????? 200 1984

With the dash lights, they are either burned out, or you have a fried rheostat as mentioned below. The rheostat is that light dimmer.

I just bypassed it on my '80, and the dash is brighter then ever. Just disconnect all 3 wires going into it, and connect them together using a wire nut or something. That's what I did.
