Computer shows bad idle control unit 700

If you have the test terminal on the strut tower you should be able to perform control function #3,this function turns on and off various components, like air control valve, injectors, and if you have a 16v engine;the electronic purge control valve. To start the function you have to turn on the key to the "on" position(engine off) connect the jumper wire in the test terminal to socket#2 and push the test button 3 times around 1 second each time, you will hear the injectors clicking, then the idle air valve, then the purge solenoid(16 valve only)then the cycle starts all over again. You will hear and feel the idle valve opening and closing if the valve and or wires going to the valve from the ECU are all working,if the valve doesn't work check the 2 wires going to the valve with a ohm meter back to the ECM for good connection and check the connection thru the valve with an ohm meter, the value should be around 8 ohms and you shoud be able to open the door on the valve and it should spring back,if not, either the valve is bad or coked up with carbon.Hope this helps.
Scott
