Engine swaps and other thoughts. 200 1977

Wouldn't any decent salvaged B23/230 engine from a 240 (dizzy in block) work OK? There are thousands in the yards - and likely to have lower km's than the B21's. Not sure about the Aus market, but B21's (except for 240 Turbos which lasted until 1985) were not offered in Canada and USA after 1982.

You could bolt on your much-rebuilt K-Jet head and complete fuel system, and end up with a 10% increase in displacement, approx. 3/4 point increase in compression (may need higher octane), and go many thousands of km's at fairly low cost.

I would suggest nursing the sick trans along until you can find and install a good M46...you will LOVE the OD.
