These aren't classic symptoms of a bad Air Mass Meter, but I could imagine a marginal one doing this. Maybe even just a poor connection. It would be easy to pull the wire off (car NOT running), wipe off the contacts and plug it back in in your driveway. To really test it, you would have to use an ohmmeter. Replacing it temporarily with a known good one would be the easiest test since this part takes 5 minutes to remove and replace if you slow.
