My car is running like crap. My definition of “crap” is that it’s not running perfectly. So tomorrow I’ll spend some time fiddling with the FI system, or I’ll run it hard to “blow out the carbon,” or I’ll find that the throttle plate has come loose, or a hose is off, or the throttle valve switch is minutely out of adjustment....or I need to boost the fuel pressure a half pound.... such is the life a person encumbered with a big bore rebuild done by the previous owner.

As has been widely reported, the D-Jet is capable of compensating for such a rebuild. But what isn’t reported is that it makes the thing pretty finicky, especially as components get into their third decade.

Me, I like dealing with mechanical stuff, like brakes and bumpers and wheel bearings. When it’s time to drive the car...especially such a pretty car...I want to drive it..not have to fiddle with the FI and then, even when it’s running right, worry about the time, soon to come, when it won’t run right.

I think I need a carburetor. And I know the conventional wisdom is never, never to carburete an FI car...but I want what everyone says a carburetor will give me: "Set it once and forget it." Heaven!

So, just for the sake of argument, if I were to buy a B20 Weber kit (say from Rusty at RPR), would it be able to handle my 2.2 L beast with the hot cam? How difficult are they to jet? Where do I get jets? Has anyone ever done this? Has anyone ever simply carbureted an FI car. I need you advice....even though I'm probably not going to like it.
