How to drain tank to replace bad gas if this is the problem? 200 1981

After reading through this thread, I'll bet your Fuel Pump Relay is at fault.

I'm thinking the gas thing is just a coincidence. If the gas was bad, I would think the car would run like crap all the time, and not just some of the time.

Sometimes the car can run, (albeit very roughly) after the fuel pump cuts out for a few seconds or so, but not for very long.

I'd also look for vacuum leaks.

Next time the car starts stumbling, try the Fuel Pump Jumper trick, which is where you jumper fuses 4 and 6 I believe... Check the archives, as I have never had to do this before, and I don't want to give you false information. If the car runs fine that way, it's probably your Fuel Pump Relay.

Resolder it, and you're good to go!

Good luck!

...by the way, I know you said you've located your Fuel Pump Relay, but just for the hell of it, here's a picture from my '80:
