Rumbling when accelerating and driving 700 1988

Driving to work today, suddenly, when I accelerated from a stop, I noticed a rumbling noise and vibration.
Doesn't seem to occur when I am in neutral and rev the engine. Less noticeable as I go up the speed range.
Any help here? What have others seen? How should I troubleshoot to narrow down where the problem is?
