Thank You - Responses Here 120-130

Hello all,

Thanks for the very nice welcome. Let me take a minute to address
some of the responses/questions generated during this thread.

To Ron K:

Thank you for the link regarding electrical. I do have to admit to wincing every time I see the name Lucas. I think back about the old joke about
"Why English drink warm beer?". However, maybe it is mostly a function of cars that aren't particularly watertight and owners not maintaining these systems. I'll have a close look. Right now, knock on steel....it all works. The water pump and fluid advice is also appreciated. Yes, a Haynes manual is on the docket although I do have a factory service manual that covers the entire 140, 1800, 544 and 120 series.....VERY thick. A late 80's Volvo factory reprint.

Yes, I've seen the BMW 2002 commercial being shown on TV via a link supplied by the fellows over on the 2002 boards (similar to this one....bmw2002faq.com). it's definitely cool and is a kick. In fact, the car is sporting a friend of mine's wheels. It was shot in Vancouver BC.

Re: 122 seats and my question about Recaros.

Unfortunately this car doesn't have any stock seats in it. They had deteriorated to the point where the seller removed them and chucked them. He then pulled tan leather seats out of a minivan and adapted them to fit. They are comfy, really comfy. But.....they look ridiculous and need to go. I'd gladly put stock seats in....either a good set or after rehabbing a shabby set.
The rear seat is stock and in horrible shape. In any case, just wondered about the Recaro route since I have two sets around my house for my 2002's.

Note: This car spent 10+ years in a barn.....so, the interior just dry-rotted and deteriorated.

To MattB:

Well, the 122 doesn't have to be a sporty and fun as the 2002. I know they are two different cars and they appeal to me in differing ways. I just love the look of the 120 series and it will eventually I hope, become a daily driver. The 02 comes out for special occasions.

I'll tell you something about 120's vs. 2002's. EVERY single woman in my life that shares an interest (at all) in cars......strongly prefers the 120 over the 2002. I think the curvy lines appeal to them more than the boxy straight lines of an 02. That struck me as odd, but interesting.

About your doors, I still might be interested particularly if I decide to take a vacation in Colorado. Where are you located? Lastly, I'll put up some pictures on my Yahoo account and let you all have a look-see.

To Phil S:

My goodness, THANK you for all of the local references w.r.t mechanical
help, expertise, body info, etc... I saved your post and I imagine I'll
be turning to these folks down the road. VERY much appreciate your reply.

OK, this has been rather lenghty. Thanks for your welcome and as I
said, I'll be around.

Best to all of you...
Jerry
