have you had the air mass meter checked out? Also have you checked your ECT ( this is the sensor that tells the computer how hot or cold the engine is ) . These all control the air to fuel mixture, sounds to me like that your problem, to much fuel not enough air hence when you plug the bigger coil in it run's better, bigger spark! Sounds to me like you have a sensor which is giveing incorrect readings to your ECU.
