idle question 700 1988

My 88 740 turbo has an idle issue I can't figure out.

Sometimes it'll have a 900rpm idle in drive, other times it will be 650rpm in drive. The higher idles is much smoother. It happens randomly, often in the same day it'll simply switch from one to the other.
