Headliner 700 1990

Hi -

Take a look at ths website:
http://www.ipdusa.com/pdf/PI-240headliner700.pdf

It is the instructions for replacing a headliner on a 700 series from IPD. In the instructions are all the details about removing trim, etc.

I attempted to do this myself on a 740 sedan and it was nearly fatal to my marriage (my wife was my assistant and as we were trying to angle out the headliner board, our daughter distracted her, she turned around to answer her, and the board broke in half). I took the car to a local auto upholstery shop, with all the trim removed, and it cost me $325 plus the $110 for the IPD headliner "kit" (the kit consists of foam-backed fabric and some instructions and 3-m spray adhesive).

So, it is not likely that a headliner that is falling will be glued back up. You could try the little coils that are used to hold on bedding - can't remember their name - a little corkscrew-shaped pin with a button on the end - Bed Bath and Beyond has them - and they might forestall the inevitable, which is replacement.

By the way, I have heard that the IPD fabric is not the right stuff. It is 1/4" thick and what is actually used in the first place is 1/8" fabric, which I am told can be found at better fabric stores.

Good luck.
