Blown headlights 444-544

Aw, c'mon!

LIGHTING BY LUCAS - PRINCE OF DARKNESS!

Seriously, though, are you using 6V or 12V headlights? Incandescent, Halogen, or Xenon Gas?

I had old 12V incandescents in my '64 PV544, and I couldn't make out the road in front of me in the DAYTIME!

To fix this, I went through the wiring, repairing the LUCAS riveted connections by cleaning and soldering them, checked the resistance to make sure the circuits were up to par, than replaced the headlights with new glass units that accept interchangeable bulbs.

I have my new 7000º Kelvin Xenon bulbs on their way in the mail, so I should be able to see a ways down the road.

I really like the Xenon lights because 1.) they give much more light in the daylight spectrum than yellow halogens, and 2.) they use less power to give more light. 55w/80w vs 85w/100w.

Also, some great Rally-style driving lights mounted on stalks behind the front bumper guards help with the long-distance vision out here in the desert!

Anyone want to see a picture? I can take some....

Steve

PS: You have a bad ground in the headlight circuit. Get a multitester and track it down.

S.
