960 Engine Swap 900

The 1991 940 SE was a B230ft in a 960 body. It was automatic only in north america. A 960 is just a 760 with a big butt and they had manual 760 turbos in Europe so I imagine it would fit. Getting the electics to work would be another story. The overdrive relays are different as well as all the electronics. The 960 has motronic, a very sophisticated fuel system. I would guess the easiest thing to do would be to use all the wiring harnesses from the donor motor. The only problem with that would be the fuel pump switching and possibly other fuel (ECU) problems. A B230 in a 960 would also be dog slow. The 960 was a few hundred punds heavier, mostly form the multilink suspension and the extra 20 litres of fuel capacity. The 960 had 80 litres (21 gallons versus 60 litres about 15 gallons). I think it would be about 300 punds heavier, and the engines are about the same weight cast iron four cylinder block versus aluminum six cylinder. The moonroof power seats etc add a few punds. The 760 turbo was heavier than the 740 by about the same 200 to 300 pounds.
