Any of the '88 - '92 radios should be direct swaps, unless you have add-ons such as EQ, etc. Volvo made them interchangeable to allow for dealer upgrades without major rewiring. Ditto, after the plug connectors were changed, the '93-'99 radios are pretty much interchangeable on a plug-n-play basis.
Also search this bboard re the part number for the dealer wiring adapters for swapping a post-'92 radio into an '88-'92 vehicle.
