I'd start by making sure you have power at the appropriate terminals at the switch when it should be on... that is, make sure the motor is getting electricity when it should...
You could, of course, try bypassing the switch though and see if you can get it to go...
Could also perhaps be a ground problem... I know a 122 motor is isolated to keep vibration down, and there is a separate ground strap for the motor... Try turning it on, and grounding the motor housing manually.
just a couple thoughts... Past that, I'm not familiar with 544 wiper assemblies, so if the problem lies there, I really can't help.
