Our routine with a purchase is strip the upholstery and pull the carpets. Machine wash the cloth, vacuum the foam and leather backing, pressure wash or bathtub for the carpets. A weekend job, and best in the summer when things can be sun dried. Once you do that, you see there's no way to suck out the dirt effectively. And the pet hair...
