replacing the headliner by yourself really isn't THAT horrible of a job, assuming you have a good assistant. the hardest part of the job is getting the headliner in and out of the front passenger side without breaking it.

after that, it's easy work to clean the backboard and put new material down.

i ended up spending a good 4 hours or so doing the job, and it looks pretty good. in materials, i spent about a total of maybe $80, and i still have enough fabric to do another run through.

if you do decide to redo the headliner (which i honestly hope you do!) make sure you get 1/8" material. DO NOT GET 1/4" material. the whole procedure for redoing the headliner is in the FAQ. also, make sure you get the right kind of adhesive. i ended up getting 3M Super Trim Adhesive (can 08090). each can runs about $13. you need about 2 cans, or 3 if you want to be safe. you'll need about $35 worth of fabric to be safe.

anyway, good luck if you decide to go this route. be careful to not break the board.

p.s. i held up the material with pushpins for a few months before i got around to doing the job too.
