Before buying a tool you may not need again, give the grease and punch method a try.
1) Find or make a punch/dowel with an OD as close to the size of the race ID as possible.
2) Pack the Pilot Bearing cavity with the thickest grease you have.
3) Insert the dowel/punch and smack it with a hammer (wrap a rag around the punch first if you're fastidious).
4) You may need to repack and resmack a time or two.
This worked for me on an MGTC, which had only a pilot bushing (with even less "pressure area" than your bearing race).
