You mean you have no tools whatsoever or just don't think you have the "appropriate tools"???
The gearbox is really no big deal, I was worried as heck myself until I actually did it.
A#1 concern is cleanliness and patience. The eaton ring pliers and the piece of tube are the only really special items. Yes, you will need sockets and wrenches and the correct allen keys (the big one can be done with a vice-grip or bolt head in a vice-grip or both). Yes, you may find more damage. But really, it is not actually tricky, just painstaking.
Sure, you will be down for a bit, especially if you need to wait for parts (likely, they want the numbers off the actual gears and shafts for correct part compatability in some cases).
If you can replace a clutch you can do this, really. Just be certain the OD is "off" when the car is parked for the last time before disassembly. Don't mess with the OD unit (remove and reinstall when done) and no problemo. The OD isn't really a lot worse, just even more meticulous.
