Odd running problem... 140-160 1974

Anyone got a few quick suggestions about how to stop an intermittant hesitation when stepping on the gas. Doesn't happen all the time, and doesn't coorelate to outside air warm or cold, full or empty gas tank, warm start or cold. All vacuum lines tested.

It seem like it goes a few miles very strongly, then starts to hesitate, then about that many mile more frees up and runs smooth. I used to think it was the temp creeping up at idle that let it run better, but that's hasn't held up.

My theory now is that it's a slightly bent valve that hangs up only at certain temps and rotated positions. Is that a wishful grasp? How quickly do valves rotate?

k-jet, pretty worn engine (Compression 145, fairly even) runs very nicely in cold, kind of hard to start when warm unless I switch the fuel pump off.
k-jet pressures all within spec, residual pressure okay. All new filters, new fuel pump. It has poor vacuum at full throttle, barely enough to keep the interior heat vents open.

It runs, always. For now that's good. I'm thinking now it's the fuel pump. I got another I can try.
