Well, now you have ID'ed an idiot who said "dealer only". So learn from that and do not use him for anything. As far as a used cable, I would not pull it unless it looked brand new with a blue Volvo label. It is just too much work for an iffy part. And I use a whole lot of salvage parts for some things.
