88 engine- 240 wagon body compatibility questions

Yes, the -89 uses the flywheel with inductive rpm pick-up. You can do the swap if you get the flywheel and add the bell housing with the rpm sensor and don't forget to replace the coolant temp sensor with the one from '90. Use everything from the '90 as far as engine electrical.
