Yes, each emissions test or DMV inspection, VIN check, or whatever your state does becomes an official entry in Carfax reports. Also any transaction, i.e. sale or transfer of ownership, as in a lease that the original owner buys out. Leased vehicles are not owned by the driver, they're owned by a leasing company until the lease term is satisfied.
