Speed sensor question 200 1990

The speedometer periodically stops working the needle will drop and the odometer and trip odometer stop as well. This happens at least once or twice will driving 20 miles or so. It will come on again after sometimes a short while or somtimes quite a long while.

Could this be the speed sensor?

IPD sells a Crank speed sensor for $45.00 is this the correct part?
