B23F Plug differences, power, timing, etc. 200 1984

According to the Bosch book the OE plug for your 84 is the W7DC. I have not been impressed with Bosch's recent "Super" offerings (Made in India) and have had excellent results from NGK plugs (BP6ES in all three of our Volvos. It will cost you $8 to try a set.

As I recall, the spec for ignition timing is 12deg, so you are close enough, esp. if there's no pinging. It does sound as if you are a bit lean on fuel mixture, so along with Chuck's suggestions, check for air leaks both upstream and downstream of the throttle body.
