On my Chevy truck I took out the driveshaft and took it to a good mechanic. I watched him replace the u-joints. He was super efficient and seemed to know exactly what he was doing. It's been a while, but I remember I was glad I had him do the job. Even with a special air tool attachment designed for the job, he put more energy into the job than I expected. One detail I remember is that he whacked on them with a hammer to seat them just right. The job would have been a chore in my garage by myself. I've never done it on a Volvo, but I assume it's a similar process.
Good luck.
