Hi Tina,
This is Greg from Montreal - Ottawa and everywhere in between.
Well my '89 240 just adores the cold but that's not why I am writing.
Understadning the weather/cold we are faced with:
Your likely problem is water accumulating on DRY metal and freezing up: firstly
you need to lubricate everything metal that moves mechanically. NOT WD40, well that's good for cleaning up (it's a water dispersant hence WD) but you need a heavier oil spray to keep water off metal.
1.. Put your car in a warmer place so the ice melts and your doors/locks work again.
2.. Use WD40 and spray everything, locks, hinges, latch on door, etc. - this will wash off all moisture i.,e. water.
3.. get a can of either "Krown" or "Rustcheck" rustproofing (canadian tire), spray everything up well. These products are thin and run very very well.
4.. If possible, get some thicker oil or grease and apply it to the lock latches to the side or the door. Even better get spray silicone.
Once the above is done all locks and latches and hinges are waterproof and iceproof and you should be fine!
BTW doesn;t help to wash a car and then park outside in the cold :)
