$35 is about what the power bleeder costs. If you plan to FLUSH the brakes every 2 years as Volvo recommends, you might want to buy one.

Check to see it they are only 'Bleeding' the brakes or 'Flushing' the brakes.

The idea is to flush all the old fluid out and replace it with clean, 'dry' fluid.
