Why pay so much for a POS oil filter when a better one can be had for about the same price or less?

Around here, Fram's run $3.50-$4, about the same price as Mann's in a 10-pack even factoring shipping. On the cheap for a good filter, Motorcraft FL-300S (or FL-1A if you have the clearance) can be had for under $3.
