Does it really need an engine? 200

Do what ricko said - take it to a trusted shop, preferable a Volvo non-dealer shop, and have it inspected. The $50 or so will be a good investment.

"Sounds Horrible" can be a wide range of things, from holey exhaust system to bad main bearings. You need to find out, you may be looking at real bargain or a real money-pit.

Good Luck,

Bob

PS: Run a CarFax check on it if you decide to buy.
