...sorry to be blunt, but that was my immediate reaction!

Remote relays and new heavy wiring are a good idea, for instance when powering high current loads like upgrade headlights, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO reason to install a remote relay for a load which draws all of (I estimate) about 2Amps! Make right your original wiring and connections, and you'll be FINE!
