Steve, in my '81 244DL with B21A, I use 98RON, Mobil Synergy 8000 Premium or BP Ultimate 98. The car seems happy and does not ping, with factory recommended tuning and timing set. I get better mpg or km/L, anywhere from 6.0km/L to 8.6km/L, mostly city driving, up to 60km/H, toward the high end, some highway driving, mixed in at 120km/H.
