How to replace the heater hoses.. 200 1986

I can see where the heater hoses clamp onto the firewall, but not where the disappear down into the bowels of the underside of intake manifold (about the level of mid-engine on the driver's side of the the valve cover.
Is there an easy/non-mind numbing way to do this necessary project on my 240 sedan?
