I think the difference comes when you have preOBD and OBD. Does your Volvo have the black connector to retrieve codes from the computer in the engine compartment? If so then you have an OBD car and you will need the 3 pin connector IAC valve, If not then you will need the 2 pin connector IAC valve. Let me know if this helps and what you find out and I will try to help you some more.
