That's ambitious to drill out with a 17/64"! You would have taken out some of the edges of the threads but I'm sure there's enough to hold it in place.

Does the new stud wobble in the hole? If so, you could use some loctite to help keep it in place and apply never-seize before tightening the exhaust nut.
