Intermittent tail light problem 200

I had similar problems , with my 244gl 1984. It turned out to be the tail light circuit board .Someone had put 25 watt in the running lights , where the 5 watt should be and i tburned out the circuit board. JUnkyard part 1 dollar problem went away immediately. Alos inspecyt the clip for the wire harness at the socket assembly the wires can become loose and wiggle out. Good luck
