Correct me if I'm wrong... 200 1984

Isn't the GLE the Diesel model?

If it's a diesel, then it might not be worth the trouble to fix it. You'd probably be better off finding a gas engine and dropping that in place.

That said, Volvo engines are pretty tough. I've seen a few run just fine with less then a quart and a half of oil in them. I certainly don't recommend making that regular practice, but the damage might not be as bad as you think it is.

Make sure you beat into your son's head how vital it is to ALWAYS check the oil at every fill up.

Keep in mind I could be wrong about the whole diesel thing... I think I've read somewhere that GLE models were diesels.
