The first and second generation PRV six-cylinder engines were not well-thought-out and frequently wore themselves out (poor lubrication, poor servicing by mechanics). If you can find one that was well-maintained, then it might be able to last as long as a Volvo Red Block engine, but it's a bit unlikely if you don't already own the engine.
The third generation engine PRV fixed the problems of the earlier cars, and would be suitable to use for an engine transplant. However, they were not first used until 1987--not in the 200-series at all. Look for it in the 700 cars, especially the 780 (though I couldn't forgive you if you cannibalized a Bertone for a project like this one!).
I would assume the transmission connections would be little more complicated with a PRV engine than with any other engine transplants. It would probably be wisest and easiest to do the B230FT switch, though.
