Kick down cable -- new or used? 700

Yup, took it to my mechanic and he said the kickdown cable was broken. Would you advise against a junkyard replacement, or get a new one. There are quite a few 86-90 Volvo Turbos at my local junkyard, and is it difficult to remove/replace? I'd probably be the one removing it.
