Sorry ! didn't mean to be rude but we should have good information on the Brickboard so that others reading it don't get mislead and make costly mistakes. My donor car checks out by chassis and engine prefix to be a 1974 B30E with M400 box . Using the same checks my transplant car is also a '74 B30E but with B/W 35 auto. Now that I have them both dismantled I can verify that both engines have 8 bolt cranks and both have 13/16" crankshaft pulley bolts.
Maybe the 22mm bolts were on B30F's. Don't know as I've never seen one. Therefore, from my experience, I would say that checking the size of the crankshaft pulley bolt is NOT a reliable way of identifying a B30E with an 8 bolt crank. What does seem to work is the engine prefixes as detailed on the Volvo 164 Club Sweden website.
