They're totally different transmissions made by two different companies.
90% or more of the M410s out there were made for the B30 motored 164. There
are a few M410s coupled to 1970 B20E motors (the first year of fuel injected
B20s).
The other differences are:
drain hole: the M410 has the fill hole on the bottom while the M41 has the
drain hole on the side
bell housing: the M410 has the bolts holding it to the bellhousing inside the
bell housing, the M41 has the bolts on the outside. Also, for the M410 the
bell housing is also the front of the transmission while the M41 is complete
even without the bellhousing.
If you found an M410 attached to a B20 motor, buy it and hold onto it. It
is rare and useful for people with super powerful motors.
The M41 is a nice gearbox. Much better for most applications. The M410 is
a rock crushing gearbox that is really pretty crude.
