Hard Bump when shifting to Drive.

That is a very good possibilty...since I just replaced the engine and the kick down had not been adjusted at all....BUT....
Does this adjustment have anything to do with a non moving shift...IE the car is sitting still and just putting in in drive will cause the hard bump...once I get it in drive and start moving..then it shifts fine...until I have to put it in park or reverse...and then the shift back to drive is hard again....

I can only hope it is something simple like a cable adjustment.
