Oli Pressure Priming 1800 1972

So you do it like he does: crank it with no plugs untill oil is everywhere install the plugs and away you go.

Cranking it over like that is the absolute worst thing you can do if you have installed a new cam.

The whole point of priming it is so that you know your oil system is good to go & that you don't have to worry about oil pressure when it starts. As soon as it fires up, which is going to be instantly, you want to stand on it & take it directly up to 2500rpm to take the stress off the new cam. A secondary reason for priming is it takes away the need to use assembly lube on your crank & bearings.
