Exhaust leak Detection - How Best?

When the engine is cold you can use your hand in the suspected area. Unfortunately turbos do not stay cool very long. A length of hose that you can hold to your ear and to the suspected area also works quite well. Visually look for blackened areas of exhaust escaping.
