The speedo needle is not keyed. I just noted the position before I removed it. If you look closely, there is a small gap at the bottom of the sleeve that slides down on the shaft coming out of the speedo . You can try to get a very small screwdriver in that gap to pry the needle up. That didn't work for me, so I grabbed the middle of the sleeve with a pair of very small needle nose pliers and carefully pulled it off the shaft.
I have to say the other poster was right... the epoxy lasted 2 days before the gear split again. I ordered the gear from Jeff and its on its way. It only took 5 min to get everything apart this time (vs 2 hours the first time!). :)
