Might want to remove vacuum hose from fuel pressure regulator and see if that is where you are smelling gas. If its running fine otherwise as you say, good chance it will not be this, but worth a 5 second check.

The previous post regarding ignition seems more likely.

Also when was the last time you cleaned your throttle body?
