Driving without a working prepump 200

Was trying to replace the prepump on my car, and the entire wiring harness on top of the fuel sender snapped off. A big o-sheet. It looks like this may have been the cause of some fuel troubles, as the wires internally were long gone and messed up. If I keep the tank as full as possible can I still drive this around?
